DEFECTIVE TIRE
I purchased a set of 205/55R-16 Vredestein HiTrac All Season SL on 4/27.
Due to medical issues we didn't get them mounted for several weeks.
We installed them on my wife's 05 Pontiac Vibe. She drove the car exactly 5 days from May 30th to June 3rd., Aprox.
80 miles when she noticed a huge 4" oval bubble on the sidewall.
I talked to customer service and they want me to fill out all this paper work for "ROAD HAZARD". WE DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING, IT'S A DEFECTIVE TIRE AND ALL WE WANT IS IT REPLACED.
I have plenty of photos of the tire. I've already shown it to several tire shops and they all agree It's a bad tire.

I was quite surprised that the salespeople at Tire Rac were trying to pass off tires that had a manufacturer's date that was almost 2 years old as new.
ALWAYS check the manufacturers date on a tire to understand when it was made. Tires (whether being used or not, regardless of how they're stored) degrade over time and slowly lose their structural integrity as well as their effectiveness of gripping in dry/wet weather.
Most manufacturers and retailers do not recommend using tires past 6 years(regardless of tread) for these reasons.
While 2-year-old rubber is still fine, it should not be considered new.
(you've essentially lost 2 years of use life at that point).
The sales practice of preying on unsuspecting consumers is not what I'd have expected from them. I wonder how long theyll continue to pass off that old inventory as new to unsuspecting consumers.
Pretty pathetic.

Their road hazard warrantee is only 2 years. That doesn't help with winter only tires.

your all a bunch of liars and thieves the support customer service team! never buying tires from tirethieves again. you have no respect to your customers and are being snakes by tricking and robbing your customers that return your tires. asking me after you received and confirmed you got the tires back that if i want my refund i need to provide you with a receipt of other tires i bought elsewhere instead?
i got used tires cause your holding hostage all my money ! so you keep my tires that i paid for and the money too? now thats real robbery and thieves. and yes all the 900-1k angry people posting is our community!

Poor quality and used not new
Dont waste your money on this online scam. The tires arent inspected for quality.
They sent my tires to Firestone and they were dirty, stained, and looked used. Im still waiting for a response from customer service.
They have NO customer service good Luck! I will file a complaint with consumers bureau and better business bureau.

Their recommended installers probably do it with the hope they'll find a need for additional work like an alignment or suspension parts.

Wow how ironic, I've experienced somewhat of the same thing, I ordered 4 tires mind you and also purchased 2 year 55,000 mile roadside warranty. When my tires were delivered to NTB tires they were dusty as well and they didn't look new, I thought that do to all the shipping they looked used.
It's a total straight up rip off Tire Company, they know that these tires has a defect. What did, they sent me 2 good tires and 2 bad tires. I'm a woman, why was I suppose to check them I paid almost $700 for these defective tires including warranty, I expected to get what the *** I paid for. I've only driven the vehicle 43,000 miles.
Per the warranty it clearly says 55,000, I haven't driven total miles yet and they want me to purchase 2 new tires. The warranty is totally misleading, I thought the air was low, I had to keep putting air in front tires. The tread is low but the back tires has plenty tread. It hasn't been to long from the last tire rotation.
Now my tires are wobbley when I drive, it's a inconvience, they want me to send the tires for inspection. What the *** am I supposed to do if I have to send them the tires. I was advised to go to local tire shop and have them to inspect. I went to NTB tires where I had Tire Rack to send them.
That doesn't make any sense, what they did was screw me out of my money, if I knew that this warranty was going to be this difficult to get them to replace my front tires, they want me to purchase 2 new tires. I've only driven 43,000 miles, what the *** does that have to do with the price of tea in China. I haven't driven the 55,000 miles yet. I could have gone to Discount Tires a company that I can drive to and raise *** in person and embarrassed and humiliate you guys like I've been "BAMBOOZLED BY TIRE RACK.
Tire Rack you guys think you going to get away with these defective tires. It's not fair, I don't have it like that anymore, where I can just purchase 4 tires on my credit card. I've retired and on a fixed income and these "AIR HEADS" want me to grease their palms again.
I WON'T EVER PATRONIZED THIS BOOTLEG *** SO CALLED TIRE COMPANY AGAIN. THEY CAN KISS MY PATOOTIE
